SOME OF THE CONTRIBUTORS TO WOMEN ON A WIRE
Patricia Pfau: She left home at 18 to join the Air Force and see the world; saw Grand
Forks, ND. Now lives with her family in Minnesota and perfects her glassy-eyed stare
hobnobbing with other members of her favorite online service at night.
Patricia A.L. Algie: Began writing poetry as an elementary school child. She learned
quickly that poetry can have its embarrassing moments. Once, when sending an early
poetic attempt to a magazine, a sheet of postage stamps were mistakenly included in
the envelope. She received a letter from the magazine returning the stamps and
informing her that "payment" to the magazine was not necessary for publication.
mariann: Between caring for her family and running her own business, she finds time
to dream, to create, and to emote.
Beverly Brown: "I have been a wordsmith since my mother, while still in the hospital,
could not decide between the names Beverly and Barbara; a lover or poetry since I
was a young girl. I always return to the poem where I believe our Soul waits to be
heard and given Voice."
Jannine Wilson-Sandlin: "I love the sounds, shapes, combinations, and rhythm of
words in poetry. It is emotion, painted to express the powerful, sometimes funny,
sometimes sad, events of our lives."
Deborah Russell: Lives in San Francisco where she spends a lot of time at the Zen
Center, makes her living as Online Community Manager for Women's Wire.
A.J. Cosima: Hails from the wild, wild west. Her interests include fast cars, fast horses,
and men whose names end in vowels. She aspires to write a best-selling work of
fiction based entirely on fact, inspired by numerous encounters with slow talking
Lotharios wearing tasseled loafers or cowboy boots.
Nancy Turner: University of Northern Colorado Coordinator of the Assault Survivors
Advocacy Program (ASAP) and a licensed, professional counselor specializing in grief,
abuse, and group work.
"C" Bear: "I am only a wordcatcher. Words come into me as visions, images, symbols,
and sometimes I catch them and write them down."
Camille Smith: "When I began writing poetry after years of not doing so, I also began
signing my poetry camille W.I.P. to indicate that my poems were 'works in progress,'
and that I was, as well, a 'woman in progress.'"
Janine Lousnbery: A family of four children and a husband and president of LANS
Transportation, Inc. She spent many years teaching early childhood special education
and now intends to "live my life with great amounts of feeling."
Anne Johnson: Began writing poetry simply as a way to share ideas with others online.
With some encouragement from friends she joined the Writer's Forum and Women's
Wire on CompuServe where she found the shared critiquing to be a wonderful way to
learn more about the craft of writing poetry.
Suzanne Moilanen: On a small island off the mainland of South Korea, Suzanne is a
stay at home mom, kept busy by the antics of her two small boys. She is writing her
first novel and taking advantage of her current isolation. She and her husband have
dragged the kids to Greece, Maldives, Italy, Spain, England, Cairo, and, most recently,
China.
Susan J. Berkson: Founded the Campaign for a Violence-Free Minnesota in 1991. In
addition to her Minneapolis Star-Tribune column, she is the winner of the 1996 Vivian
Castleberry Award for Newspaper Commentary, a contributor to the Milkweed Editions
book, Transforming a Rape Culture, and the proud mother of Michael Berkson Teener.
Cherie Blackfeather: A feminist artist, designer, and writer.
Laura Gregg: Has owned her own travel agency, been a professional clown, and
written documentation for Microsoft, although not all at the same time. Her current
interest is applying research to the real world about how Americans work (Or don't
work) in teams.
